The decisive Greek victory at Plataea put an end to the Greco-Persian War along with Persian ambition of expanding into Europe. One year later Sparta led a Greek alliance against the Persians at the battle of Plataea. In 480 BC a small force of Spartans, Thespians, and Thebans led by King Leonidas made a legendary last stand at the Battle of Thermopylae against the massive Persian army. In the Second Messenian War, Sparta established itself as a local power in Peloponnesus and the rest of Greece.

The earliest evidence of human settlement in the region of Sparta consists of pottery dating from the Middle Neolithic period, which are the earliest traces of the original Mycenaean Spartan civilisation, which seems to have fallen into decline by the late Bronze Age, when, according to Herodotus, Macedonian tribes from the north marched into Peloponnese, where they were called Dorians.Д«etween the 8th and 7th centuries BC the Spartans experienced a period of lawlessness and civil strife and carried out a series of political and social reforms of their own society which they later attributed to a semi-mythical lawgiver, Lycurgus. You will need your student ID number, which is a 9-digit number starting with 801 that can be found in the letter you received alongside the instructions to this site, and your initial PIN number, which is the last 4 digits of your ID number.

Enter the Course Reference Numbers (CRN) on the worksheet.

Look at the schedule of classes and College Catalog to determine your course preferences.

Once each student has one class the process repeats until everyone's WebTree choices have been exhausted. The program then goes to the next student in line. The first question is 'what class do you most want?' The second question is 'what do you want if that one is unavailable?' Questions like that continue until the student gets one course. Each question depends on the answer to the one before it. You can think of WebTree as, in effect, lining up the whole student body and asking each student a pair of questions.

WebTree is based on a kind of lottery and uses an if-then logic to run. WebTree is a student-designed initial course registration process that allows for each student to obtain one course before any student gets a second course.
